NICO  BEKKER

TREASURER - EMERGENCY SERVICES CHAPLAINCY

SOUTHERN AFRICA

Nico Bekker was born in Kroonstad in the Orange Free State, South Africa, on the 30th of August 1957.
He was the second of only two sons born to Daan & Cora Bekker.

 

As a teenager, his parents moved to the then called Transvaal, now known as Gauteng.
He grew up in a town called Kempton Park, and attended both primary and secondary school at one of the
Afrikaans schools in Kempton Park, being Birchleigh  Primary School, and Jeugland Secondary School

 

After School, he started to work for the Department of the Auditor-General in Pretoria while studying B.Com

part time. In 1983 he started his fulltime studies in Theology and became a minister of religion of the

Dutch Reformed Church in 1988.

 

He served the congregation of Germiston-South for eight years before he was called to the congregation

of Kempton Park where he still is at the present.

 

In 2005 he was approached by the Kempton Park Emergency Services Chaplains, and asked if he would assist

them in the Emergency Services Chaplaincy of the Kempton Park area.

He officially joined the Chaplaincy in the middle of 2005.

 

In November 2006, Nico was appointed as Acting Treasurer by the National Executive Committee of the Emergency

Services Chaplaincy of Southern Africa.

 

At the Annual General Meeting in August 2007, Nico became the Official Treasurer of the ESC(SA)

 

In 2003, Nico  married  Adri, a Social worker with the AFM, Abba Adoptions. From this

marriage a girl was  born, Cristelle (2 years of age) was born.

Nico also has two other daughters from a previous marriage, Lizette (12) and Madèl (9)
